Chris Transeau Wins at Trail-Way

HANOVER, Pa.: On the eve of his 40th birthday, Chris Transeau held off one of the hottest Legend drivers in the region for his first win in 2021. Coming off of his first career win at BAPS Motor Speedway, Seth Kearchner was primed for his second consecutive series win, with only a handful of laps remaining in the 20-lap Gene Latta Ford Central PA Legends presented by Harvest Chapel feature.

“This is emotional for me, and a lot of people don’t know, but after 16 years I’m jobless right now, but hey, I’m here racing, man. It’s what it’s all about. This is what keeps me going inside,” Transeau said in victory lane.

Kearchner, who started on the front row beside Chuck Dell Jr., took the early lead as Transeau began his trek toward the front.

On Lap 2, Jeremy Ott and Transeau raced under Dell for second and third, and immediately, the two began battling for the runner up spot. Transeau tried to sneak under Ott in Turn 2 on Lap 4, but Ott slammed the door. A lap later, Transeau was able to get around Ott and immediately set his sights on the leader.

By Lap 10, Transeau cut a half second off of Kearchner’s lead. With seven laps remaining, Transeau’s deficit was down to .213 seconds. Three laps later, Transeau jolted to the bottom coming out of Turn 2 and took the lead from Kearchner going down the backstretch.

Kearchner kept pace with Transeau, staying close to his rear bumper. On Lap 18, Kearcher sneaked to the bottom of Turn 4 and raced side-by-side with Transeau through Turns 1 and 2 and down the backstretch until the caution was brought out for Greg Burd, who was stopped a turn ahead of them.

Transeau’s .001 second lead on the last completed lap gave him the advantage on the next restart. While Transeau hugged the bottom on the restart, Kearchner tried to find an opening in Turns 1 & 2 and got squirrely allowing Austin Bellemare to get around him, stealing the runner up spot at the line.

“Seth, he was pretty quick,” Transeau said. “I didn’t want to do it dirty. We bumped a little bit and the last two laps, I was thankful to be the leader with that restart, but I just knew I had to protect the bottom. I know I was slow and I felt him, but hey, I did what I needed to do and here I am.

“I honestly thought that he might’ve got me when that caution came out, but I leave it to these ladies in the tower and the scorers. They do a hell of a job every week.”

Following Transeau, Bellemare, and Kearcher across the line was Travis Perry and Travis McClelland, who completed the top five.
